ADDRESSING MINISTRY-RELATED STRESS

Working with young people can be invigorating and joyful, but it can also be tiring and stressful. Too often those of us in ministry put aside our own needs for those of the young people we serve.
Letting Go of the Chaos: Ideas for Addressing Ministry-Related Stress, a new book from St. Mary’s Press, explores twenty areas of stress most common in the lives of those who work with young people.

BECOME A NATIONAL SCHOOL OF CARING

Covenant Teen will be part of the souper bowl of caring again this year... more info comming soon! Thanks to all the youth groups tha participated in building the house in Honduras. This year we are looking at a different project...

During the week leading up to Super Bowl Weekend (January 28-February 1), schools across the country will participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring to fight hunger and poverty in their local communities. The Souper Bowl of Caring is launching its new National Schools of Caring campaign to engage students in service and philanthropy.  Participation is easy!  Schools simply perform service projects and collect donations of money, canned goods, and other items to benefit nonprofits in their communities that provide direct services to their neighbors in need.  They report their totals to Souper Bowl of Caring, and then donate 100% to the local organization of their choice.  Last year more than 14,000 groups participated to generate over $8 million. Registered groups will receive a free Resource Kit that includes an owner’s manual with step-by-step instructions, an educational DVD and more! Any school with a group that registers, participates, an d reports will be recognized as a National School of Caring.  To register, visit http://www.souperbowl.org

THE ONE YEAR MINI FOR LEADERS

Jim Seybert, has written a book on leadership that goes on sale in October, and to promote it he's giving it away free! You can download a PDF of the entire book online. Yeah, he's insane - in a really cool kinda way.

Here's a short description: "The One Year Mini for Leaders" looks at common leadership principles through the uncommon lens of Jim Seybert's unique perspective on life and work. Using scripture as a catalyst for his unconventional approach, Seybert tackles topics such as Time Management, Stewardship, Integrity and Vision (among others) in a way that will force you to revise the way you lead. His hope is that people will read portions of it, and buy the actual book when it's available. If you'd like a free copy, go to his site: http://www.jimseybert.com/pub.htm

CATHOLIC SPEAKERS ONLINE TO PRESENT TELECONFERENCE ON YOUNG ADULTS

Recent studies show that only eight percent of confirmed American Catholics in their 20s and 30s go beyond Mass attendance and are involved in the ministries of the parish at some level. How do we reach this elusive group with our ministries, enable them to take on leadership roles, and carry the message and mission of the Church to future generations? Fr. Dave Dwyer, CSP, a national expert in ministering to and with Catholic young adults, will discuss best practices in the parish and diocese and invite us to apply some successful principles to each of our ministries. This 60-minute live online program will include time for discussion and Q & A. Attendees will receive a list of resources helpful in this ministry. Requirements are a high speed (56k or above) connection to the internet and a telephone. There is no registration fee. Your only cost is the phone call. To register go to https://pncea.webex.com. Search for: “Dwyer”. Click on “Register” and fill in the form. If this is your first experience of online meetings, PNCEA has prepared five-minute Attendee Guides you can view for free in advance of the meeting. You will receive the links to these after you register.
